Their varied experiences and skills enable comprehensive decision-making and strategic planning to provide the best unique experience for the campers. Committed to effective governance, the board diligently monitors camp operations, identifies key industry sectors for campers to focus on, and utilizes their network, technology, and business skills to instill confidence and entrepreneurship in our next-generation future leaders.

Board Members
Dr. Gabriel Ramirez (UCLA)
Dr. Gabriel Ramirez is the key operator of CampCEOS. Dr. Ramirez has been an educational leader with 24 years of experience focused on high-quality education, access, and equity for all students, particularly for those who have been most underserved. Specializing in education reform, Dr. Ramirez uses that experience to support and uplift all stakeholders to ensure that change occurs through partnerships and community. By focusing on reform and innovation, Dr. Ramirez has been able to put his doctorate of education he earned at UCLA to good use. Over the years, his strengths in innovative learning models, project-based & career-focused curriculum development, teacher development, and non-profit startups has garnered some recognition such as accreditation and admittance into the League of Innovative Schools, as well as being a Nationally Board Certified teacher. Dr Ramirez may spend his days working with other leaders and schools in supporting school communities, but it’s the thrill of innovating education to better serve those most in need that gets him up in the morning.
Dr. John Tanner (Caltech)
Dr. John Tanner, CEO of Tanner Research, Inc., is a renowned leader in electronic research and development. With his guidance, Tanner Research has consistently ranked on the prestigious “LA Fast 50” list, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to innovation and excellence. Dr. Tanner’s expertise spans across various domains, including MEMS design, fixed-wing drone aircraft, agriculture robotics, and Artificial Intelligence for Robotics, establishing the company as a trailblazer in technological advancement. He holds a BA degree from Wartburg College in 1979, as well as an MS in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Caltech in 1980 and 1986, respectively.
Mr. Jonathan Li (TUFTS, MIT)
As GM of XREAL US, Jon is responsible for business development and the developer ecosystem. Jon brings decades of interaction design, management, and entrepreneurial experience to the XREAL team. Besides designing Motorola’s first touchscreen phone, he co-founded a product design studio, an Android software company, and a wine retail store. Before joining XREAL, Jon led an autonomous driving team and the development of an electric vehicle for rideshare and delivery. Jon holds an MS in Engineering Psychology from Tufts University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from MIT.
Mr. Samuel Kang (UCI, APU, USC)
Mr. Kang is the COO of Sienza Energy, a Caltech silicon-based anode battery company, and a Councilman and 2-time Mayor of Duarte. With over 25 years of business development experience, he advises foreign businesses to succeed in the United States, specializing in global infrastructure development, real estate, import/export, batteries, EVs, and green technology. Formerly as BYD, Head of Total Solutions, and Head of School Bus Division. Mr. Kang has an extensive network that includes international corporate leaders, government officials, and venture capitalists. He has spoken at conferences and political events, featured in various media outlets including CNN, NBC, and CBS. Mr. Kang holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine, an MBA in Finance, and an MS in Computer Science from Azusa Pacific University. Currently, finishing his Doctorate in Policy and Planning from the University of Southern California.
Mr. Burt Slusher (UCI)
Mr. Slusher is the Assistant Dean of MBA and Specialty Masters Programs at the University of California, Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business. In this role, Burt oversees the School’s current portfolio of graduate programs consisting of three MBA Programs (State-supported Full-Time MBA, and self-supporting Fully Employed MBA and Executive MBA) and four self-supporting Specialty Masters Programs (Master of Finance, Master of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Master of Professional Accountancy and Master of Science in Business Analytics). In addition, this role also oversees the Master of Science in Biotech Management program in tandem with leaders from the School of Biological Sciences. Burt also serves as part of the School’s senior leadership team. Burt holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Student Development in Higher Education from Cal State Long Beach, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Social Behavior from UC Irvine with a minor in Management, and is certified as a Master Career Development Professional (MCDP).
Dr. Perla Hernandez Trumkul (USC)
Dr. Hernandez is currently serves as the District Chief of Staff for United States Congresswoman Grace F. Napolitano, overseeing the local district office and managing a team committed to serving the San Gabriel Valley in the 31st Congressional District. Dr. Perla Hernandez Trumkul is a dedicated advocate for gender equality, tirelessly working to garner public support for addressing gender gaps and wage disparities and implementing equitable social and political policies. Dr. Hernandez Trumkul holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Whittier College as well as both a Master of Public Administration degree and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Diana Zhao (USC)
Dr. Diana Zhao has been engaged in education and social services for many years. She has long been involved in serving various community service organizations and previously served as the President of the Walnut High School Chinese Parents Association. Dr. Zhao is very active and engaged with children’s development and shaping them to be the next leaders in the San Gabriel Valley. Currently serving as the First Vice President of the Elite Lions Club, CEO of Win-Win Relationship Learning Center, CEO of the nonprofit organization – Activate Wellness Center, member of Diamond Bar Women’s Club, Secretary for the US Jiangsu Economy Trade and Culture Association, and board member of the Nanjing Association in the United States and IAPAC. Dr. Zhao holds a Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Southern California (USC) and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California.
Mr. Dominic Zhai
Dominic Zhai, also known as Yoyo, is a distinguished director and host, renowned for his work in television and film. Currently serving as a host and producer at AM 1300 Chinese Radio/SinoTV in Los Angeles and iQiyi in Beijing, Zhai hosts popular programs such as “May I Help You – No Matters in the Three Treasures Hall” and “Happy Land.” His notable film works include “Hello, Yourself,” “Paper Airplane,” “Like Water Flowing Years,” and “I Want to Protect You.” Zhai’s talent has garnered numerous accolades, including awards for his hosting abilities and recognition at prestigious film festivals. Additionally, he has been a role model for many children, displaying exceptional rapport and serving as an inspiration for young minds.
